In 1927 the world population was 2 billion. As we enter the third millennium, the planet's population has grown to 6 billion - less than a lifetime to arrive at 6 billion.

Between four and five people are born every second - Two people die every second. The population of our planet is growing at the rate of 77 million a year.

To match current population growth estimates, the Youdraw exhibition would need to add three additional books to the bookshelf every week (1.5 million people) for the next 15 years.

Today there are 1 billion young people between 15 and 24 years of age. Their decisions about the size and growth of their families will affect the shape of the Millennium century, the 21st century. Their choices will determine how many people will be on the planet by 2050, and beyond.
